“The land [on the Bread Loaf Campus] is an extension of our classroom space, it’s an extension of our living space, it’s an extension of our imaginative space.”
In 1944 the Bretton Woods Conference laid the foundations for post-WWII international financial architecture. Fast forward 80 years and we invite you to join us at Beyond Bretton Woods as Gen Z creativity meets the thought leadership of world-renowned innovators in finance, sustainability, business, and culture. Together, in the face of the polycrisis—the concurrence of several crisis strands—we’ll provide the regenerative fuel to design solutions to existing Bretton Woods institutions and emerging entities.
Clear your calendars, because the magic happens between the sessions. Middlebury’s Bread Loaf campus (the event HQ) will provide a setting to dream the unimaginable. From historic buildings with giant stone fireplaces, to thousands of adjacent wild acres of the Green Mountain National Forest, to Robert Frost’s favorite writing spot, we’ll enjoy centuries-old vibes with 21st-century comfort.
“The pacing was amazing, the movement, activity, time for connection + reflection, and inspiring speakers/facilitators. I've never been to a conference quite like it.”
Imagine unique physical and sensory experiences, hands-on labs, and meaningful opportunities for human connection. It's not just an event; it's an immersive experience. We’ll take cues from innovators inside and outside the financial sphere to guide process and personal improvement (key elements for creativity and resiliency!). This is beyond economic theorizing—it's a moment in your life to create indelible memories, expand your network, understand new perspectives, and co-create innovative solutions to the polycrisis challenges.
The event will be the soil, creating conditions to seed ideas that sprout into future solutions. We’ll carry on post-event by proposing solutions for key Bretton Woods institutions and the Bretton Woods 80th. Lab reports and a book publication documenting outcomes and the collaborative efforts of students, faculty, and experts will complement the innovative endeavors. Eventually, new and modified course curricula will be considered at Middlebury College, with the intent to influence sustainable financial education globally.
Registration for Beyond Bretton Woods is currently only available via invitation, but we’d love to learn more about you, share exciting new developments, and explore how you can be part of our crew!
